Bring your own AI
Connect your AI to Lazybooks
Use Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Muse (Coming soon) to check who owes you, create invoices and quotes, and record income and expenses in your Lazybooks books, just by asking.
Connector URL
Paste this into your AI app when it asks for a server or connector URL.
https://ai.lazybooks.co.uk/mcpWhat it does
Lilibet is the assistant built into Lazybooks. This works the other way round: you connect the AI app you already use to your Lazybooks account, and it works with your real books. Your AI app does the thinking. Lazybooks only answers its questions and carries out the changes you've allowed.
- See your businesses and an overview: money owed, overdue invoices, this month's income and spending
- Ask questions about your books
- Look up invoices, quotes, clients, income, expenses and folders
- Everything in read only, plus:
- Create clients, invoices and quotes
- Record income and expenses
- Mark invoices as paid
- Undo any change it made
You need a Lazybooks account. Creating invoices and quotes needs an active plan, as it does in the app. Anything your AI creates shows up in Lazybooks straight away.
Connect
When you connect, you'll be sent to a Lazybooks page. There you sign in, choose Read only or Full access, and tick which businesses to share. You never give your password to the AI app.
Claude
- Open Customize → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Lazybooks and paste the connector URL.
- Click Connect, sign in to Lazybooks and choose what to share.
Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http lazybooks https://ai.lazybooks.co.uk/mcp, then run /mcp to sign in.
ChatGPT
- Open the Plugins page.
- Click Add, choose a custom MCP server, name it Lazybooks and paste the connector URL.
- Sign in to Lazybooks and choose what to share.
Grok
- Go to grok.com/connectors and choose New connector → Custom.
- Paste the connector URL, then sign in to Lazybooks and choose what to share.
Muse (Coming soon)
- In a chat, ask Muse to add a custom connector and give it the connector URL.
- Sign in to Lazybooks when the page opens and choose what to share.
AI apps rename their menus often. If a step doesn't match, look for “connectors”, “apps”, “integrations” or “MCP” in its settings. Any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth will work.
Things to ask
- “What do I need to deal with in Lazybooks today?”
- “Who owes me money, and what's overdue?”
- “How much did I invoice last month, and who was my biggest client?”
- “Create an invoice for Acme Ltd: 3 days consulting at £400 a day.”
- “Record a £45 expense for printer ink in Office supplies.”
- “Undo the last change you made in Lazybooks.”
If you have more than one business, say which one, or the AI will ask.
Disconnect
- In your AI app: go to the same Connectors or Apps settings, find Lazybooks and choose Disconnect or Remove. The app stops using Lazybooks.
- To change access (for example from Read only to Full access, or to share a different business), disconnect and connect again. The Lazybooks page will ask you to choose again.
- To cut off an app's access from our side, email info@lazybooks.co.uk and we'll revoke it straight away. A Connected apps page in Lazybooks settings, where you can do this yourself, is coming soon.
If you don't use a connection, it expires on its own after 90 days.
Safety
You choose the access.
A read-only connection can't change anything.
You choose the businesses.
The AI can only see the ones you ticked, and only while you still have access to them.
Every change is logged and can be undone.
Ask your AI to undo it, or delete it in Lazybooks as normal.
It doesn't email your clients.
Invoices it creates are saved unsent; you send them from Lazybooks when you're ready.
Your password stays with us.
The AI app gets a key that expires and can be revoked, never your login.
Lazybooks never moves money.
It records invoices and payments; it doesn't make payments.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
Not from Lazybooks beyond your normal plan. Your AI app's own plan applies, and some apps only offer custom connectors on paid plans.
Can the AI company see my books?
Your AI app sees the information it fetches to answer you, the same as anything else you share in a chat, and handles it under its own privacy policy. It can only fetch from the businesses you ticked.
Is this the same as Lilibet?
No. Lilibet lives inside Lazybooks and keeps working exactly as before. This lets you use a different AI, outside the app, with the same books.
The AI says it can't create an invoice
Either the connection is Read only (disconnect and reconnect with Full access), or the business has no active plan.
It asked me to sign in again
Connections sometimes need you to sign in again, for example after 90 days without use. Your books aren't affected.
Can it upload receipt photos?
Not yet. It records the expense without a photo; you can add the photo in Lazybooks.
